The UK summers are notoriously changeable, but with underfloor heating, you can enjoy your conservatory rain or shine.

Conservatories it turns out are all the rage. A recent feature in the Daily Mail newspaper has declared the outdoor rooms as being 'year round designer statements fashioned in glass'. And with their designer glass, more homeowners are adding an extra touch of class with underfloor heating in their garden rooms. 

Underfloor Heating – Turn up the Temperature 

At one point our homes were often freezing in winter and stifling in summer – and conservatories especially were vulnerable to extremes of temperature. Perhaps it's a particularly British phenomenon – building rooms designed to make the most of our outdoor spaces, simply because the weather alone is not always reliable enough to allow us to enjoy the garden. And although installing underfloor heating is a relatively new phenomenon, hot houses were a fashionable addition to the wealthiest of homes back in the early 19^th century.

Today, many homes feature conservatories, but not all are designer statements. Contemporary garden rooms are now engineered to fit in the pages of home interior magazines, all sheer glass and aluminium. Home investments are on trend after the credit crunch, where homeowners have been forced to improve, not move. The cost of moving and fall in property prices means more and more are turning to extensions or conversions to expand their space and update their homes. Loft conversions are another popular move, and adding luxurious additions like underfloor heating ensures homes stay warm and damp free. 'Conservatory' is perhaps an old fashioned name for the bespoke glass structures adding a designer edge to our properties - orangeries or sun rooms offer homeowners the chance to chill out indoors and outdoors, and still be indifferent to the British summer.

Installing and renovating your home can add value not just to the price of your property but to your quality of life, creating an attractive, comfortable environment year-round. And more homeowners are decided to sit tight and make the most of what they have by enhancing their property with features such as underfloor heating – a particularly popular approach already in areas like London where space is of a premium.
