Installing a new underfloor heating system could bring a range of benefits.
Increasing numbers of people are choosing to install underfloor heating systems. The majority of these are fitted in kitchens and bathrooms, but homeowners are also beginning to see the benefits of using underfloor heating in other areas of the home.
Why underfloor heating?
People choose underfloor heating systems for a variety of reasons. As our homes change according to fashion, so does the way we heat them. More people opt for tiled and wooden flooring, which looks clean and bright, but can be cold. Adopting flooring that is widely used in warmer countries gives us the look we want, but not always the comfort we need. Underfloor heating solves these problems in one fell swoop; install a system underneath your chosen flooring and you achieve warmth and style at the same time.
Underfloor heating for more than your feet
Whilst it’s lovely to pad into the bathroom in the morning and feel the warmth of the tiles under your feet, underfloor heating systems can actually be used to provide general heating for your whole house. Many new-build properties, particularly those that are individually designed for the owners, use underfloor heating rather than the more conventional boiler and radiator system. This gives a number of advantages:
- Controllable heating each room can have its own thermostat control, giving you complete flexibility over the heating in your home. You can even set a timer so that the room is warm when you use it most and cooler when you don’t.
- Space many rooms are hampered by radiators furniture can’t go too near them and curtains can’t cover them, or the heat is lost. A room with an underfloor heating syste doesn’t need radiators, so you can make full use of the wall-space, giving you far more freedom with decoration and furniture.
- Maintenance radiators need to be painted, flushed and annually maintained. An electric underfloor heating system, designed and installed by professionals, is reliable and requires no regular maintenance. It can be fixed if it goes wrong, but for the most part, you can leave it to get on with the job of heating your home.
