Robbens Systems Underfloor Heating

Robbens Systems - Underfloor Heating

Once the quote has been accepted and the order has been processed, your system enters its second stage - the pipe layout design. These drawings show the optimal pipe spacing and routing for your project. Based on the heat loss calculations that are accurately produced at the quotation stage, these designs are an integral part of your underfloor heating system. The designs are produced 'in house' by a dedicated professional design team, to produce the layouts that form the basis of your underfloor heating system.

The Robbens team use a 'snake' style layout design, where the pipes take a zigzag route, starting nearest the outside walls (highest heat loss areas) and work their way back into the room. The pipes nearest the outside walls are closer together, to compensate for the higher heat loss in those areas, and slowly start to spread further apart the further back into the room they go. The overall spacing is determined by the heat loss calculations of that room. The less heat that is required, the further apart the space will be between each run of pipe. By designing the system in this way, means that the air temperature in the room will be extremely even because the closer spacing near the outside walls compensates for the heat loss in those areas.

With all the designs, regardless of the floor construction you have in your project, there is more information on each drawing than just where the pipe goes:

  • Total water content for each manifold
  • Areas in which the supplied conduit insulation is required (solid floors only)
  • Direction of water flow through the pipe work
  • Positioning of the clip rail that holds the pipe in place (solid floors only)
  • Suggested position of insulation boards (floating floors only)
  • Manifold Location
  • 1:50 scale to provide accurate on site measurements

Every system that is fully designed from Robbens will be supplied with two full colour bespoke pipe layouts for your project. When requested, these can be additionally supplied in either PDF or AutoCAD format, allowing you to keep a permanent record of your underfloor heating system.
