Under Floor Heating - Floor Systems
Robbens offers systems for all floor construction methods and floor finishes – including timber.
Solid floors are suitable for a wide range of floor coverings and give the greatest output. Timber Floor Systems are lightweight construction methods that have been developed for first floor and refurbishment uses, as well as for timber floor finishes.
Underfloor heating systems, are designed to be incorporated into traditional suspended floor constructions widely used on old and new buildings. The suspended floor system does not use any type of screed or concrete to conduct the heat but instead relies on heat transfer plates to spread out and disperse the heat.
Batten floor underfloor heating systems, are designed to be incorporated into floor constructions that use timber battens laid onto an existing floor finish. There are various methods for installation but the overall result remains the same. The batten floor system does not use any kind of screed or concrete to conduct the heat but instead relies on heat transfer plates to disperse the heat. These systems are very commonly used in situations where real or engineered timber floors are to be laid as the finished floor. The addition of the batten, allows the finished timber floor to be fixed using a traditional secret nail method of installation.
Floating Floor underfloor heating systems, have been designed to be incorporated into a floor construction that consist of sheets of flooring insulation that has a structural floor board floated straight over the top with no additional fixing to the insulation. These systems have very similar properties to the suspended and batten floor constructions types, and will operate in exactly the same way once they are installed.
The types of floor coverings that can be used over your underfloor heating system will ultimately depend on the temperature that your system needs to achieve to operate correctly. You can check these temperatures in the quotation provided for your project. In a modern building, you should be able to use most floor coverings with no real issue, because the floors will remain at a relatively low temperature due to the buildings high levels of insulation.
