Solid floors run at the lowest water temperature requirements which sits at an ideal 40 – 45̊C; although the water is at this temperature, the floors will not reach the same temperature. In a poorly insulated building, the maximum floor temperature a solid floor could reach would be around 29̊C (100w/m2). In a modern well insulated building the floor temperature would normally remain within a few degrees of the room air temperature.
Suspended, batten or floating floors (non-screed systems) would normally require a higher water temperature, ideally around 55 – 60C. Although this would translate to a maximum available floor temperature of 27̊C (70w/m2), in a modern well insulated building this would remain within a few degrees of the rooms air temperature.
