Robbens Systems Underfloor Heating

Robbens Systems - Underfloor Heating

You can have carpets over your underfloor heating, however care must be taken when selecting an underlay. Carpet and underlay has a TOG rating, which specifies how well it insulates. The underlay’s TOG rating should be around the 1.1 – 1.5 mark, and the total combined TOG of the carpet and underlay should ideally be no greater than 2.5. Products like Duralay Heatflow have been specifically designed for use in conjunction with underfloor heating.

If you exceed this, and choose a carpet and underlay which has higher insulating properties, you will prevent the heat from passing through. If you make the checks before you buy your carpet, you should have no problems having carpets and underlay covering your underfloor heating.
